Silicone/Collection

“The omnipresence of technology, and resulting lack of tactility through digital printing, has pushed Lucy to experiment with unconventional hand-printing techniques and mediums, creating relief-like structures that need to be experienced. She has an experimental approach to design, always looking to work with unexpected materials to create an explosion of tactility and colour.”

Philippa Wagner, Creative Strategist + Trend Forecaster

I began experimenting with silicone during my Masters at The University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2014. What began as a simple experiment grew into a collection of colourful, tactile textiles with texture leading my creative process.

Although the fabrics appear to be very playful they are also quite practical in terms of usability and longevity due to the silicone’s waterproofness and hardwearing properties. The technique is versatile and can be used on a number of surfaces to add decoration and tactility.

Each base fabric is carefully hand-selected and dyed to a specific colour-palette and then combined with silicone to create a fresh and tactile surface.

My textiles’ have been featured in various trend publications, including: WGSN, Mix Magazine x Global Colour Research, Elle Decoration, Heimtextil and Premiere Vision..etc
